GPF archives audio files as MP3 FILES. So how do you listen to all of the MP3 content?
Step 1: Download some kind of streaming MP3 audio player. You will need a streaming audio player that can handle MP3 files, and there are LOTS of them. Here is the catch though: all of the files stream through a locator file which ends in .M3U, so you need a player that will play M3U files.
Here's a quick list of players we like the best, divided by system type... now this is by no means every single streaming player out there (Real One Player, Windows Media Player 13x, Quicktime 8.9b, etc.), but these are the ones that we have found to be the least intrusive on your system and function nearly perfectly with the audio on our site:
Windows:
Macintosh:
Linux / Unix:
IMPORTANT NOTE: When installing the software, make sure that you choose YES if it asks something like "Do you want this program to play MP3 streams"... We recommend Itunes for Apple users & Winamp for Windows owners because each of these two programs are easy to setup AND free.
Doing the above will enable you to simply click on one of our audio links and then the player will automatically open and begin playing the file.
ANOTHER IMPORTANT NOTE: If you are using an out of date version of the Netscape browser, you will have MASSIVE DIFFICULTY listening to MP3 streams. There is just something about Netscape, pre-version 6.0, and playing MP3 files... go figure. Anyhow, to make it work smoothly, download the newest version of the browser of your choice (IE, Netscape, Mozilla, Opera, Safari, etc.) and you will be able to hear us with no problem. Believe me, this is the best solution for not only me but you as well. Old browsers do tend to have security issues anyway and they are all free, so make sure you are updated.
Step 2: Navigate to the page with the audio file you want to hear or click on the speed below that represents your Internet connection speed for our live, 24-hour stream:
Of course, we NEED a live stream for this part to work, so in the meantime anything that looks like you can listen to it, click on it and see. Once we have the band back together and on a new radio station, we will have a live stream... oh yes... we will...
Step 3: At this point, you should have no problem listening to our archived shows, interview and review segments. All you need to do now is sit back and enjoy GPF's content on your computer at your leisure!
