Painkiller is the latest gaming release from Dreamcatcher Interactive and one which has message boards and LAN parties abuzz with excitement. Graphically, it beats the socks AND pants off of most games available on the market and has an addictive quality that hasn't really been felt since the titles Doom and Quake were in vogue. Playing as Daniel Garner, you are a fallen angel, purging the world of evil with your arsenal of weapons. Featuring over 3000 polygons per monster and over 8000 for bosses, your enemies not only look terrific, they move with a realistic gait as well. Powered by the Havok 2.0 Physics Engine, the baddies you dispose of flail and react to your heavenly might in ragdoll movements. Did we mention that the game also features destructible environments, ala' Red Faction?

Lacking somewhat in storyline, the sounds and ambiance provide for an engrossing experience, as do the unique weapons that can be obtained. Rated M for MATURE, it is a true rating... as the scenes can become very hellish and morbidly scary. A beautiful, action packed, scary game with a little story places this game up with some of the greatest FPSs of all time; listen in as GPF's Ivan Baird reviews Painkiller from Dreamcatcher Interactive.
